Skipper Shakib Al Hasan played a captain's knock to lead Bangladesh to a three-wicket win over West Indies in the second ODI.

Shakib first bowled economically and returned figures of one for 42 in 10 overs and then stroked 65 from 62 balls as Bangladesh knocked off the required 275 runs with an over to spare.

After suffering a 52-run loss in the first ODI, the hosts showed positive intent by choosing to bat. Travis Dowlin made that decision look a good one with 100 off 117 balls.

West Indies also had contributions coming from all the way down the order, with Andre Fletcher contributing 22 before being removed by slow left-armer Shakib Al Hasan's first ball in just the sixth over of the innings.

His opening partner Dale Richards (20) was run out, before Devon Smith (44) dominated a stand of 66 with Dowlin.

Captain Floyd Reifer fell cheaply again, but David Bernard and Rawl Lewis added 22 apiece in support of Dowlin.

Dowlin brought up his century in the final over, leaving Darren Sammy (24 not out of 11 balls) to smash a couple of boundaries off Syed Rasel.

Bangladesh responded off slowly and just as Junaid Siddique (23) appeared to be getting into his stride he was removed by Bernard. He then also produced a stunning catch to account for Tamim Iqbal (29).

Then Mohammad Ashraful (64) shared stands of 52 with Raqibul Hasan (20) and 74 with Shakib which gave the tourists the upper hand.

West Indies got into further trouble as Kemar Roach had to be removed from the attack following two no-ball beamers, one of which was hit for six by Shakib. He was replaced in the attack by wicketkeeper Devon Thomas.

When Shakib fell to Sammy, Mushfiqur Rahim (31 from 30) took over, marshalling a stuttering tail.
