Todmorden have become the first Lancashire League club to sign a new professional for the 2009 season. The Centre Vale outfit have snapped up 22 year-old Zimbabwean all rounder Sean Williams.
The left handed batsman and slow left arm bowler is regarded as one of his countries top prospects. He appeared in the Under 19 World Cup in 2004 and 2006 and he was also selected for the Zimbabwe squad to tour South Africa in 2005 inspite of having played just one First-class match. He has appeared in 24 One Day Internationals to date, averaging 30.3 with seven half centuries to his name.
Williams, who succeeds Gulam Bodi, will be Todmorden's first Zimbabwean professional. He averages 45.5 in 16 First-class matches with two centuries amongst his 1229 runs.
Todmorden have also re-appointed Jon Henderson as captain.
